My Moon Fascination

I have always held a deep fascination with the moon. From the time I was little I have always stared in wonder at the night sky and the beautiful moon that seems to hang there with such ease and brilliance. The moon reminds me about how small and grandiose I am all in the same breath. I can feel the strength of her wisdom, the calmness in her light and the steadfastness in her rhythms.

Virtually every painting I create includes the sun and the moon. To be honest, this is almost never intentional. I don’t set out to include the moon, she just seems to ALWAYS want to be a part of the image. The energy for me is about the balance between the divine masculine and the divine feminine. The sun symbolizing the divine masculine and the moon radiating the divine feminine. The moon beckons us to remember who we are, why we came to earth in this lifetime, and to embody our sacred femininity and strength. She beckons us to sit silently with her in still moments, to cherish the dark, the alone, the quiet. She asks us to cherish and honor all the softness within ourselves, to sit patiently with whatever arises and remind it, “you are beautiful and perfect and I love you just as you are in this very moment.” The moon does not ask us to be perfect, but to honor that which we perceive to be imperfect with love and open arms.

As I have started honoring the moon cycles over the last few months, I have begun to notice a difference within myself; a softening, a trusting, an allowing that was not as obvious before. My body feels more at ease in harmony with the moon rhythms and I grant myself more permission and grace. May you discover what your body and spirit most need as you align with the power of moon.

Art Exercise for Each New Moon

Ask yourself, “What do I wish to create in alignment with the energy of this new moon? What is it that I want to happen in my life?” Close your eyes and envision that which you want to create.

Feel it in every fiber of your being. What feelings do you have? Notice them. Allow the feelings to grow and expand. Create a visual representation of that which YOU ARE CREATING that you can look at daily throughout the cycle. Trust yourself and your potential to manifest.

My word for 2019 is roots and I am really focusing on this intention as I begin the year. I want to nourish and nurture the roots of my business, my family life, my friendships. This feels nourishing, supportive and in flow to me. I am not rushing the process, but rather nurturing it.

I align the rhythms of my life with the rhythms of the moon cycles. I allow my body, mind and spirit to come into greater balance and harmony. I rest when I need to rest and take action when it’s time to take action.
